See all photosThe owners of this waterfront home on Piers Island wanted a complete redesign of the kitchen and a refresh of an existing bathroom. They chose bold colours and contrasting finishes to suit the home's unique location.
In the kitchen we moved the main entry door from the kitchen to the sitting room, put a window where the door had been, and opened a breezeway to connect the two rooms. An awkward peninsula became a larger counter looking out to the garden, plus an island with more seating and usable space. We relocated the range with new direct venting, moved the fridge and added a new water connection for the updated appliances. In the bathroom we removed an old clawfoot tub and added a walk-in shower, a new vanity and lighting.
Piers Island has no ferry service, so every truck, tool and material was barged over from Swartz Bay, and all waste that couldn't be recycled or reused was hauled off the island to proper disposal sites.
A bright, bold kitchen and bathroom delivered on schedule and on budget, despite the logistics. Unusual jobs like this are where our planning really shows.
