The brief

This tiny kitchen in an older James Bay condo was dated and closed off from the dining room by awkward built-in cabinets. The client only had a cooktop, and other companies had told her an oven simply would not fit.

What we did

We took out the built-ins to open the kitchen up to the dining room, and gave the space extra height above the counters so it flows in an old building with tight dimensions. Then we tightened the design until an apartment-size oven fit into the cabinetry.

The result

A small kitchen that feels open, flows into the dining room, and finally has the oven she was told she could not have.
